African Wren launch ceremony

MUR supports the Steel Orbis and IREPAS Meeting

MUR recently attended the Steel Orbis 2018 Conference and 79th IREPAS meeting hosted in Istanbul, Turkey. Attended by more than 500 participants from 44 countries, collectively, major producers, traders and other parts of the global steel markets debated the world’s steel market, new strategies, expected changes and the future of the raw and finished materials.

Shipping organic materials into Australia
23 August 2018
MUR/JEBSENS joint bulk service from Portland Oregon/Vancouver British Columbia into Australia/New Zealand were commended for its ongoing dedication to detail. The route undertakes rigorous inspections by the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) as it transports organic materials. Hold inspections for these vessels are one the most difficult for the MUR trades worldwide and can take up to 4 hours per hold.

African Gannet naming and delivery
28 June 2018
The M.V. African Gannet was delivered to us from the Kanda Shipyard on the 28th June. The ship is a 38,000dwt logger type, she follows the delivery of the African Kestrel earlier in 2018. The two sister ships will deliver into our bareboat charter during 2019 and 2020.

Durban operations centre comes online
15 June 2018
To support our growth in Eastern and Southern African ports, Philip Simpson and Henrik Andersen opened our new operations centre in Durban this week.

African Toucan naming and delivery

In May this year we expanded our fleet with the handover of the African Toucan. The Toucan is a bulk carrier with a Gross Tonnage of 23,247 mts.
